PLAY IT (virtually) TO BELIEVE IT™

YOU CAN PLAY EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A PHYSICAL TALISMAN!

Although each of the talismans are physical objects that are being passed on from person to person, it is important to understand that their sacred energy is not limited to the physical object itself.

Because sacred energy cannot be bound and limited to a physical entity, it is possible to connect with the power of any of the talismans on this site from a distance (virtually).

To do so, first read the story on one of the talisman’s page and then perform any of the meditations, rituals and practices advised.  In the instances when the actual talisman is mentioned, you need only envision being in its presence. You can also print out a picture of the talisman and use it in its place.

You can also use the talismans as an oracle system: Think of a question that you would like some guidance about or an issue in your life that you would like some healing.  Then randomly choose a talisman number to open that talisman’s page.  Let the wisdom of that sacred object guide and heal you.

Lakshmi Tanka_offering pic

When this generous man in Sri Lanka found out about The Talisman Challenge, he took his personal and precious Lakshmi Tanka from his home altar and offered it to me so that it could be shared with the world!

Front side of Lakshmi Tanka talisman.

Lakshmi (also called Sri) is the Goddess of Manifestation. She is often associated with money and is often referred to as the Goddess of wealth and material prosperity. Lakshmi is connected with spiritual prosperity as well.

But what does this really mean?  The most simplistic association would be that you pray to Lakshmi and you get more money.  WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!  Sadly this is what most people think.

In order to really understand, we have to go deeper with a few simple concepts:

Question 1) What do I mean by pray?

Question 2) What do I mean by Goddess?

Question 3) And what do I mean by Lakshmi?

To truly answer these questions with depth and profundity would probably take an entire book, so for now I will provide a simplified summary, with the intention of helping you connect and benefit from this talisman.

Answer 1)
WHAT DO I MEAN BY PRAY?

When I say pray, I mean to connect to the highest and deepest part inside of Myself or to connect with my Self. (Notice that I wrote the word “Myself” with a capital “M” and “my Self” with a capital “S.”  This means that I believe there is a difference between my self (with a small “s”) and my Self (with a big “S.”)

Small self refers to me in this body, with my ego, my personality and all my limitations.  But there is a part of me that is not bound to this body. It is beyond time and space.  It has no limit. It has no ego.  For some Westerners (who are mostly Christian influenced), the closest concept to this would be one’s soul.  But even in Christianity, there is a concept called The Christ Within.   In Buddhism, they refer to a similar thing with Buddha-Nature, or the Buddha Within.  This means that inside all of us, at the core and center of who we really are, we are Divine Love.  To pray means to connect with our True Self, to connect to Divine Love.

Answer 2)
WHAT DO I MEAN BY GOD OR GODDESS?

We are talking about archetypal (the largest and universal categories of) energies. God refers to anything that is its highest form/ highest and purest vibration.  All humans have aspects of these.  For instance, the archetype/ categories of “Mother,” or “Compassion.”  Those are the Gods.  The Ancient system of India is one of the most detailed at explaining all these complex Energies.

They use different vivid and elaborate Gods and Goddesses, with different stories, colors, images and relationships. Everything in the image, such as having multiple arms carrying different things or the placement of hands and fingers in a certain way (called mudras), all represent the different qualities and aspects of this God (Universal Archetype).

All these stories serve to give a tangible and relatable understanding that these energies are real and alive.  God is not just up in heaven and far away and disconnected from us.  God is ultimately within us and all around us and the Gods represent these largest categories of Self, the largest categories of everything and at their highest vibration.

Your higher Self divided up as all of the Universe and all of Existence.   So, going back to the example of Mother, whether or not you are an actual mother, there is a Divine Mother aspect to every human being.  So either you divide all of the Universe by the main categories of the elements or the chakras or the divine qualities, or the different aspects of life, these will be the Gods and Goddesses so that we can help understand and re-connect with it All.  It helps us to re-learn about our Self and our higher purpose.  By understanding all the different Gods, and through their stories and relationships, we learn about our higher Self in a more personal and accessible way, instead of it all being intangible and unattainable concepts.  In essence there is One God.  There is but “one” Divine Love.  But this thing that we are referring to as One, encompasses All (and Beyond).  If, as humans, and with our limited awareness, we want to begin to understand God, it can be helpful to start dividing It up into it’s largest Divine Qualities or Categories (Archetypes).  These are what are referred to as the Gods and Goddesses.

Answer 3)
WHAT DO I MEAN BY LAKSHMI?

Lakshmi represents spiritual abundance.  It includes all of physical manifestation and having access to a lot of stuff, but being guided in a deeper and more meaningful way in order to use the stuff for a higher purpose.  She is the Deity of the material world. She represents deep transformation that is still connected to the material world and day to day life.  Lakshmi gives everything you need for this deeper transformation while at the same time purifying whatever egoic tendencies may come in the way.

The simple, one liner, understanding of Lakshmi would be that she is the Goddess of Money and of Abundance.  But if we go deeper, Lakshmi falls under the larger category of Mother Goddess.  She is the aspect of Universal Mother that is rather gentle and provides in the Manifest world.  Of course, being Divine Mother, she is also Unconditionally Compassionate, Caring and will also guide you to use what she provides for your highest good and for the good of all of creation (which, to begin with, she also created and so are intimately interconnected with her and with you).

This talisman is of a Lakshmi Tanka.

The front side of this talisman has a picture of Goddess Lakshmi and a little metallic plate on which is embossed the Sri Maha Lakshmi Yantra.

The back side of this talisman is the Mahalakshmi Mantra.

WHAT IS A MANTRA?

Given that Everything is Energy, then every God/dess (specific archetype) can be precisely encoded (as well as precisely summoned).  Two main ways of encoding Energy is through sound and through image.  The sound encoding of Divine Archetypes is called a Mantra and its geometrical image encoding is called a Yantra.

That means that by repeating this Mantra “connected” with Goddess Lakshmi (the energy of Divine Abundance and Prosperity) we are directly summoning and connecting with it.  In essence, if we really understand what is going on here, this mantra is not connected with Goddess Lakshmi, it *is* the Energy of Goddess Lakshmi in the vibrational form of sound.  And since, we, as humans are also mere energy, in essence, what is really happening is that by repeating this mantra, we are aligning our vibrational energy with a specifically chosen aspect of Divinity (in essence, with a specific aspect of Our Divine Self).  Below is the Mahalakshmi Mantra in question. I challenge you to repeat this mantra even for five minutes per day for 21 days and watch in awe as things  start to shift in your life.

MAHALAKSMI MANTRA
ॐ श्रीं ह्रीं श्रीं कमले कमलालये प्रसीद प्रसीद ॐ श्रीं ह्रीं श्रीं महालक्ष्मयै नम:॥
Om Shreem Hreem Shreem Kamale Kamalalaye Praseed Praseed
Om Shreem Hreem Shreem Mahalakshmaye Namah॥

WHAT IS A YANTRA?

Now that you know what is a mantra, then what is a yantra.  Well, if you were paying attention, you will have guessed, that a yantra is essentially the same thing as a mantra but encoded as a geometrical image.  Again, difficult to understand and to even imagine, but this means that the Mahalaksmi Yantra *is* the actual embodied representation of the Consciousness (energy) of Goddess Lakshmi.  By staring into this Divine Image, it automatically becomes a meditation in which you are aligning with this Divine Energy.

Lakshmi Tanka front

Front side of Lakshmi Tanka talisman showing an image of Goddess Lakshmi and the actual Lakshmi yantra (on the right).

I challenge you to stare into this yantra even for five minutes per day for 21 days and watch in awe as things start to shift in your life.  Of course, if you are one of the privileged to have this actual talisman in your hands, it will be more powerful than staring into a computer screen.  Take advantage and meditate it with it directly during the time that you have it in your possession.  But, remember that energy has no limits.  This means that even if you don’t have the actual talisman, you can receive benefits by staring into this image on the screen.  You can also choose to print out the image and stare into the yantra whenever and wherever you choose.

As I mentioned before, to truly articulate and explain the power and potential of this talisman would take much more than a few paragraphs.  My hope is that by presenting a summary of the vastness and profundity of these concepts, it will create a sort of opening, curiosity and appreciation for this talisman.

Ultimately, so that more people can have access to these ancient secrets that have almost been lost and forgotten and so that more people can align with their Lakhmi Within – that aspect in which we are provided for and have nothing left to worry about. The more we align with Divine Prosperity and Abundance, the more we align with our true purpose to express and to share who we really are.

Do not forget that someone from an under privileged country has unconditionally given up and offered his personal and beloved Lakshmi Tanka so that you can experience it.  It is in Giving and Sharing that we receive that which truely transforms us the most.  If this man’s actions don’t represent Lakshmi’s energy of giving, then I don’t know what does.   Through his actions, he literally embodied the energy of Lakshmi.  May he be forever blessed and may whoever comes into contact with this talisman (directly or virtually) be equally blessed.
