June 28, 1914 – Beginning of World War 1
Exactly 1 Hundred Years Later…
June 28, 2014 – Talisman # 1 gets launched into the world.
After I had collected 39 sacred objects (talismans) from all over Sri Lanka, I had a plan. First I would take a couple of months to create a website for the talismans. This meant that I would have to learn web design and then create a separate page for each talisman. I envisioned that each talisman would also have its own Facebook group, Pinterest board, map with its place of origin, tracking list, and a separate ritual to guide people to connect with their specific talisman. Needless to say, I was a little overwhelmed.
My idea was that only after the site was complete, would I launch the talismans into the world. I thought that maybe I could create a live webcast raffle and this would determine who would be the first to experience each talisman.
After about three months working on the site, I was only about 30% done. I was beginning to feel restless. I was spending so much time thinking, connecting and writing about the talismans and I wanted to share them with the world.
Less than half the pages had already been created, so technically I could already release some of the talismans into the world and maybe they would already start to get some momentum. Instead, I decided that I would release the talismans only after all of the pages had been completed. I also needed to find a way to present each talisman with the dignity and respect that they deserve. Perhaps I could create a custom made wooden box for each talisman with the website name and talisman number engraved on each one.
The official launch felt so far away. There had to be a middle way. More importantly, I felt that something needed to switch energetically. There was a part of me that felt like it was never going to actually happen. I needed a new boost, some new momentum, some new inspiration. I needed the power that comes from interacting with like minded people. I was also ready to face my unconscious belief that it was never going to really happen. I needed to believe that, no only was it going to happen, but that it was already happening. But I also knew very well that I needed to start slowly.
And so came the idea for a “soft launch.” There would be a talisman that would be launched into the world and serve not only as a tester but as the tipping point so that I could no longer say that the project is still waiting to be launched.
Now, all I had to do was complete all the parts for one talisman and then it would be ready to be launched into the world.
June 28, 2014 was that date.
If June 28, 1914 marked the beginning of World War I, exactly 100 years later marked the launch of Talisman #1. The first talisman would serve as the soft launch (tester) of THE TALISMAN CHALLENGE for peace and freedom.
