September 1, 1939 – Beginning of World War 2

Exactly 75 Years Later…

September 1, 2014 – Launch of Talisman #2:

Official Launch of the TALSIAN CHALLENGE for Peace & Freedom

It’s moments like these that really remind me of sacred timing and that everything happens not only for a reason but also at the right time.

Talisman #1 was launched on a very special day: one hundred years after the beginning of world war 1.

It “should not” have taken two months to launch the second talisman, but somehow that is how long it has taken to complete this page for Talisman #2.  What is most interesting is that today is also a very special day: 75 years after the beginning of World War 2.

Whereas, Talisman #1 served as a pre-launch/ tester talisman for this project, Talisman#2 marks the official beginning of the Talisman Challenge.

75 years after the beginning of WW2, instead of launching bombs into the world, the TALISMAN CHALLENGE project launches inspirational talismans into the world. Each talisman serves to inspire and awaken people all over the world.  The purpose is to help inspire a transformation towards both inner (personal) and outer (collective)  peace and freedom.

In this short but beautiful video that I found online, can be seen stunning areal views of the sacred mountain that inspired the Talisman Challenge (Sri Pada Mountain, also known as Adam’s Peak).  In this video you can see some of the 5200 steps that pilgrims climb to get to the sacred temple at the very top.  This talisman is an actual piece of sacred Sri Pada Mountain – where mystery and mysticism  intersect.

And now the story of this very special talisman.

Let’s just get to the point: THIS IS THE TALISMAN THAT INSPIRED THIS ENTIRE WEBSITE AND THE ENTIRE TALISMAN CHALLENGE!

And so for this very simple reason, no matter how many talismans will be launched in the future, this talisman could likely always remain the most powerful and inspirational of them all.

If you have not watched the video of me explaining how I got the inspiration for this project, this would be a good time to watch it.  This talisman is a piece of the very sacred and mystical mountain that I mention in the video.

I mention that at some point while walking up this mountain as a pilgrimage, I had a very mystical experience.  I do not explain in the video exactly how it happened, so let me explain now.

I had been living in India for one year.  My visa had expired and so I had to leave India and go to any other country for 7 days (the time it would take to obtain a new Indian visa.)  I loved being in India, every day was magical and inspiring.  If my visa had not expired, I would have been happy to stay much longer.  But I knew that needing to leave also meant that it was a beautiful opportunity to travel and discover a new country.  I knew almost nothing about Sri Lanka, except that it was a short and very inexpensive flight away, and that it was the place where many other people went to renew their Indian visa.  It seemed easy and simple enough.  Whereas India represented the land of the mysterious and the profoundly spiritual, I had not associated Sri Lanka with spirituality and transformation.  At best, I thought I would spend a week relaxing by the beach and swimming in the ocean while waiting for my new visa.  Not a bad deal.

The day before I left for Sri Lanka I made a quick Google search.  I was interested to know if there was anything spiritual and mystical about this country and even more important, if there was anything that connected it to my beloved India.  My quick search revealed a few interesting things, but only one really stood out: A VERY FAMOUS ALL NIGHT PILGRIMAGE – 5200 sacred steps, all lit up, and the goal was to reach the temple at the very top by the break of dawn in order to experience a mystical and transformational sunrise and to participate in the morning sunrise temple ceremony.

Some more reading revealed that this mountain was mysteriously known by different names.  People from various religions and traditions all were interested in doing this pilgrimage.  At the top of the mountain was a sacred footprint: Sri Pada (means sacred footprint).  Buddhists believed that it was the footprint of Lord Buddha, Hindus believed it was of Lord Shiva, Muslims believed it was of Adam, and Christians believed it belonged to St. Thomas.

Although different traditions interpret the power of this mountain in different ways, they all agree that it is one of the most sacred, magical and powerful places on earth. It is also believed by many to be the closest point to paradise. It is no wonder that this mountain is often described to as the place where mysticism and mysteries intersect.

I knew about Lord Buddha, Lord Shiva, and Adam & Eve.  But somehow, it was its connection with St. Thomas that grabbed my attention.  I grew up Christian and so I knew that he was one of Jesus’ 12 apostle’s.  I also knew that he was often referred to as “Doubting Thomas.”  This was the man from whom originated the expression “You gotta see it to believe it.”   This was the man who doubted Jesus.  And when he demanded to see proof with his own eyes, he was gracefully granted his wish.

It’s not often that you get to demand proof from any aspect of “God/Truth/Consciousness/Love/The Universe/Self/Awarenenss” and in turn have your wish revealed. It normally works the other way around.  The more you surrender, the more you have faith, the deeper the Truth is revealed.  That is one of the paradoxes associated with spirituality.

But sometimes, just once in a long earned while, if somehow you are lucky enough and ask for proof from a profound and genuine place, God will fulfill your demand.

I became obsessed with this question:  What was I incorrectly doubting that was inhibiting me from more fully living my dharma (my true purpose).  What was I incorrectly doubting, that if I were to instead know the truth, I would so greatly benefit.

I wanted to walk this all night pilgrimage asking this sacred mountain to help reveal this very answer about myself.

AND IT DID.

The answer is personal, and the revelation lead to the inspiration for this entire website and project.  Most of all, I knew, beyond a doubt, that the answers came directly from this sacred mountain.

It felt so clear, so strong, so magical, so healing and so loving that I knew I had to take a piece of this sacred mountain so that I could share it with other people.  This was the initial reason why I took a piece of this mountain. I wanted other people to have this same opportunity of grace and healing that I had.

May this talisman help shatter whatever you may be incorrectly doubting (self-doubt or otherwise), so that your heart, like mine, can break open and your life can break free.
