Entrance to the Dambulla Cave Temples.
This is the second talisman that I was bestowed during my pilgrimage to this sacred cave temple complex. As I begin to write about it, I start to remember the mysteriously mystical feeling of that moment. To really understand the precious power of this talisman, you first have to read my experience with the Dambulla Coconut Shell Talisman. In describing the story of that talisman, I write about how it was impossible to find even a little pebble in the whole temple rock complex, and how when I was led to a coconut shell, I went on a marathon trance connecting that talisman to 108 different Buddha statues.
The moment when I touched the Coconut Shell talisman to the 108th Buddha was the moment when the story of that talisman was complete, and that the story of this talisman began. It was the moment that I spontaneously fell to my knees that when I looked on the ground I instantly knew that I was entrusted with a most precious gift: The Dambulla Cave Temple Rock talisman. Yes, it was in that very moment that I finally found a rock, an actual piece of this ancient temple rock complex.
It is difficult for me to convey in writing the preciousness of that moment, and equally difficult to convey the power that I feel resides within that sacred rock.
One can enter deep within the womb-like darkness of a cave and then emerge wiser. A life changing sign often appears when you enter into the deep unknown and hidden fears that dwell inside of you. A cave offers the most immediate and deafening echo to reflect back to you the inescapable secret messages from Mother Nature. If you allow yourself to be guided, after a symbolic death, you will experience rebirth and renewal.
This talisman not only contains the energy of this ancient cave temple but also of all the carved Buddha’s that lie within it. It has the power to to help you confront the deep hidden fears that dwell inside you, receive a special message and assistance from Mother Nature’s Womb so that after a symbolic death, you can experience rebirth and renewal.
Background info on Dambulla Cave Temple
Dambulla Cave Temple (also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla) is the largest and best-preserved temple complex in Sri Lanka. The five main caves contain more than 150 statues and thousands paintings related to Lord Buddha and his life. The Dambulla cave monastery is still functional and remains the best-preserved ancient edifice in Sri Lanka. It is believed that pre-historic Sri Lankans lived in these caves at least 2700 years ago.
