Anurathapura, Sri Lanka is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. The entire city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although it is no longer the capital of Sri Lanka, it was its capital city for over 15 centuries. The ancient city, considered sacred to the Buddhist world, is today surrounded by monasteries covering an area of over sixteen square miles (40 km²). It was the center of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries.
Anurathapura is famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilization, and is especially famous for the sacred Bodhi Tree (see Talisman #22), the only still living tree that has been propagated from the original sacred Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India, under which The Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) attained enlightenment.
Most people don’t know that in Anurathapura we can also find a sacred Money Tree. This talisman is a leaf from this sacred tree. May it bring abundance and prosperity to whomever comes into contact with it so that they can be assisted and supported in their journey towards awareness and Love.
