These lemons were part of a personal ritual-closing-ceremony I had on my last day in Sri Lanka.

This island country currently named Sri Lanka, (meaning “divinely resplendent island” in Sanskrit) and previously named Serendib (connected to the word “serendipity”), had certainly revealed to me its divine resplendency and fairy-tale-like power of serendipity.

Sri Lanka had given me so much. This was the magical land that not only inspired The Talisman Challenge but then auspiciously guided me, gracefully held me, and led me to so many incredible talismans (as well as the transformational experiences connected with each of them).

It was not easy to leave.  Even though I knew I would one day return, I also knew this meant the closing of a very important phase in my life and that it merited a very sincere closing ritual in order to close and honor this phase with respect and gratitude.

These lemons were used in this ceremony that I performed, alone in my room, during my last night in Sri Lanka.  They embody not only the importance of knowing when it is time to say goodbye but power that comes from honoring one’s past and letting go in order to be able to move on to the next.

We all have phases and experiences from our past that we hold onto longer than we need.  It seems as though most of the western world has a great difficulty with goodbyes and letting go what has ended.  At its core, is a profound discomfort with death and a problem of attachment. There seems to be a misunderstanding of the reality that everything has a sort of expiry date.  It may have served us perfectly well while it was fresh and alive but once it no longer serves us, it is no longer healthy to hold onto it.   Just as one would not drink or even hold onto expired milk that sits in the fridge.  It served its purpose perfectly well while it was fresh and current, but would continue to spoil and stink the longer we held onto it.

May this talisman reveal to you the power of knowing when and how to say goodbye with honor and gratitude and to guide you through this experience so that you can open up to the next positive phase of your life.
